it’s a busy time in the garden as harvesting increases. to-date i have brought in bush beans, fava bean and peas. most of the onions are drying, the tomatoes are going crazy and yesterday i pulled all the kidney beans which are now drying in the sun. in general, it is a time to keep things tidy as the dog days of summer dry the garden and plants ready themselves for the coming fall and winter.
fortunately for us gardeners there’s always food at hand to keep the energy up. veggies (after a quick rinse) the ever bearing strawberry, wild black berries and the odd raspberries (there are always those that persevere.) my favourite though are the abundant cherry tomatoes (sweet hearts f1 grape tomato) so prolific that i have several bamboo canes holding them up. between me an my neighbours we are keeping it in balance:)
